"Like, I can say, 'Oh, being pregnant sucks,' or, 'It's not fun,'" she said, "but when you feel your baby kick and you literally see your pants move because you kicked so hard, you're like, 'That's what it's all for.'"

"When you think about putting good things into the world," Savannah continued, "we live in such a crazy world, and I have friends who are like, 'I don't know if I want to have a baby. I don't know if I want to bring one into the world we're living in,' and I'm like, 'You get to control what you put into the world.'"

The reality star added that she views becoming a parent as a chance to make the world a better place by raising someone with the values she deems important.

"It's such an opportunity to raise a kid up right, teach them the right ways, make a difference, be different from other people," she explained. "It's the biggest blessing, alright? It's nothing. I can be large and in charge for a few months. I'll be fine. I might not be happy about it, but I'm good."

Savannah had previously discussed her love for Jason when she announced that they were engaged and expecting a baby together last month.

"Right in the middle of the heartbreak,” she said of him coming into her life in a post shared on Instagram. “Before all the pieces were put back together. And somehow, he began healing parts of me he never broke. My protector. My fiercest fighter. My most loyal person. My lover. My safe place. A man with the patience of Job (and Lord knows he needs it). The one who makes me laugh even on my hardest days."

Mckenna Grace and her Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping co-stars have been on a worldwide press tour promoting the prequel to Suzanne Collins’ franchise.

During most of Grace’s appearances, she has paid tribute to Jennifer Lawrence and The Hunger Games past by channeling some of their outfits.

Grace kicked off the press tour in the white dress Lawrence wore in Catching Fire and shared her feelings about it in a social media post.

“I’m SUCH a massive fan of this franchise, so the opportunity to recreate something like this was so special,” Grace shared on Instagram. “A huge thank you to the entire team that helped me get ready, and especially @mollyddickson who’s been helping me bring all my fangirl dreams to life for this press tour for months now hahah. I wanted to pay homage to Katniss, and this dress is so iconic, although the meaning of the look is not lost on me.”

She continued, “What makes Katniss’s wedding dress so powerful to me is that it begins as a costume meant to turn her into a spectacle but she and Cinna turn it into something so powerful. It made me think of Maysilee’s refusal to let the Capitol strip away her humanity, ‘If you let them treat you like an animal, they will.’ One of the things I love most about The Hunger Games is the characters’ determination to hold onto who they are even when others are trying to define them. It’s truly incredible just how much deep meaning and storytelling is told through these costumes alone, it was such an incredible night getting to celebrate the wardrobe of these films. I’m still pinching myself.”

Slovenian star Luka Doncic is set to play on the second night of a back-to-back when the Los Angeles Lakers host the Miami Heat on Monday.

Doncic sat out the second leg of the Lakers' previous back-to-back due to back tightness.

After playing against the Portland Trail Blazers on Oct. 27, he sat out the following night's 103-87 victory over the LA Clippers.

This time, Luka is not listed on the Lakers' injury report for the Heat matchup.

That clears the way for him to play less than 24 hours after erupting for 45 points, 15 rebounds, and six assists in Sunday's 131-125 win over the Toronto Raptors.

Doncic has been dominant to begin the season, averaging 37.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 7.3 assists through six appearances.

He has scored at least 37 points in four consecutive games and currently leads the NBA in scoring.

Los Angeles enters Monday's game with a 5-2 record and will be looking for its sixth win in eight games against Miami.

Lakers also get positive Ziaire Williams update

The Lakers received another encouraging development on the injury front, with Ziaire Williams no longer listed on Monday's injury report after dealing with a foot issue.

Meanwhile, Adou Thiero remains out due to injury management.

He shot 4-of-8 from three against the Pistons, including 2-of-4 in the second quarter. New York outscored Detroit 26-12 in the period, rebounding from a slow start. Bridges can be a valuable fantasy option, but many managers were getting close to the point where they had to seriously consider cutting bait. Tuesday’s performance may buy him a little more time.

  While Mikal Bridges (six points, five rebounds, one assist, and one block) continues to offer limited fantasy value, Hart has started strong. The Knicks’ wing posted a strong stat line on Sunday and has been a top-50 fantasy player through the first week of the season. Expecting Hart to sustain that isn’t realistic, given all that he brings to the table. That said, some managers may consider selling high before Week 2.

  While there were reports that multiple teams had interest in offering Shamet a deal when free agency opens on Tuesday night, he’s decided to remain in New York. He’ll receive an average of $6 million per year, which leaves the front office some room to work with as they look to follow owner James Dolan’s directive to avoid the second apron. Shamet was not a consistently impactful fantasy option, but he came up big for the Knicks when they needed him most, including shooting 11-of-12 from three in the Eastern Conference Finals.

  Fresh off the franchise’s first NBA title in 53 years, the Knicks’ focus has turned to the roster makeup for 2026-27. While Dolan made it clear that he’s fine with writing a check to account for entering the luxury tax, that isn’t the case for the second apron. “If we could bring back the whole team, exactly as it is, why wouldn’t you? But I don’t know if we’re going to be able to, contractually,” Dolan said. “We’re willing to stretch, right. There’s certain things in the NBA that you’d have to be suicidal to do. One of them is called the second apron. Cannot go into the second apron. That’s up to Leon (Rose)...I’ll write as big of a check as possible, but I can’t write a check that goes into the second apron.” This is important because two rotation players, Mitchell Robinson and Landry Shamet, are among the Knicks who will be unrestricted free agents at the end of the month. And Jose Alvarado, who was critical in Game 4 of the NBA Finals, has a $4.5 million player option. The Knicks barely avoided the second apron this season; this task becomes even more challenging this summer.

  After totaling nine points in Games 3 and 4 of the NBA Finals, Bridges cracked double figures in Saturday’s series clincher. On a night when Karl-Anthony Towns and OG Anunoby shot a combined 4-of-18 from the field, with the former fouling out, Bridges’ contributions were needed, even if they weren’t extraordinary. Looking ahead to next season, his availability is what gives Bridges value, especially in category leagues. However, the 2025-26 regular season may lead to him going a little later in drafts after many managers were burned by his struggles.

  Bridges was excellent on the offensive end in Game 2. He was 7-of-8 from the field to start the game, but was also finding his teammates as he had six assists. Bridges has had one game with at least 20 points in every round of the playoffs. This one certainly came at the right time as the Knicks were able to take a 2-0 series lead on the road. Twice before has a team won the first two games of the NBA Finals on the road and that team went on to win the series each time.

  Shamet came off the bench and lit up the Cavaliers for 16 points on six attempts. He was 11-of-12 from behind the three-point line in the Knicks’ four-game sweep of the Cavaliers. Shamet has certainly opened some eyes with his shooting in this series and should continue to play 15-20 minutes per game in the NBA Finals.

  Bridges continues to shine for the Knicks, who are one win away from a second consecutive series sweep and their first NBA Finals appearance since 1999. During Game 3, the Knicks’ wing did his damage from the mid-range and in the paint. All 11 of Bridges’ makes came within 19 feet of the basket, with nine occurring in the paint. He’s been aggressive, and the approach has paid dividends for the Knicks. Bridges will look to do more of the same in Game 4 on Monday.

  Huff has been filling in as the starting center for Indiana for the last few games, but that hasn’t always led to starter minutes. However, with only six available players for the Pacers in this game, Huff played a significant role. He started off hot, scoring 17 points in the first half, which helped him lead the team in scoring while setting a new season high for points. He’ll continue starting until Ivica Zubac (ankle) returns, which makes him an intriguing streaming option, even if he has struggled as a starter prior to this game.

  Jalen Slawson posted a full line on Monday with 12 points (3-of-11 FGs), seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, three blocks and two three-pointers against the Hawks.

  Slawson re-signed with Indiana on a two-way deal in July, and he has ended up being part of the Pacers’ rotation this season. However, his role expanded exponentially in this game due to them only having six available players. Slawson didn’t shoot the ball well, but he did a little bit of everything else in the box score. Slawson was productive in this game, but his role won’t typically be large enough for him to repeat it often.

  Duncan Robinson had 24 points (8-of-11 FGs, 2-of-2 FTs), two rebounds, three assists, three steals and six three-pointers against the Hornets on Monday.

  Robinson isn’t going to regularly contribute much in the other categories, but he dropped 24 points and made six three-pointers in Monday’s win over the Hornets. He’ll continue to be a useful player on fantasy teams that need points and threes.

  Braden Smith started on Monday and finished with 19 points (8-of-13 FGs), four rebounds, 10 assists, three steals, one block, two three-pointers and five turnovers in a 108-104 loss to the Hawks.

  The Pacers only had six healthy players for this game, so everyone that was available played a ton of minutes. That allowed Smith to make the first start of his career, and he took full advantage. Most second-round picks don’t record double-doubles in their first starts, but the special circumstances allowed college basketball’s total assist leader from last season to do just that. Smith is a high-level passer, but he won’t be part of the Pacers’ rotation when the team is healthy. Depending on the injury report ahead of Wednesday’s game, he could end up starting again.

  Cade Cunningham had 33 points (13-of-20 FGs, 3-of-4 FTs), five rebounds, seven assists, five steals and four three-pointers in the Pistons’ 124-91 victory over the Hornets on Monday.

  Cunningham has now recorded at least 30 points, at least five rebounds, at least seven assists, at least two steals and at least four three-pointers in two of his last three games. Due to his efficiency and five steals, Monday was the 25-year-old point guard’s best game of the young season so far. With Jalen Duren (hamstring) still sidelined, expect the Pistons to continue to lean on Cunningham even more than they usually do.

  CJ McCollum recorded a double-double on Monday with 13 points (4-of-17 FGs), nine rebounds, 11 assists, one steal, one block and two three-pointers against the Pacers.

  McCollum’s shot wasn’t falling in this game, but he was able to initiate offense as a playmaker, which led to a new season high for assists. He came close to recording a triple-double, but McCollum was still able to have a fantastic outing, despite the rough shooting night. With Jalen Johnson (ankle) out, McCollum stepped up as a playmaker, though that trend likely won’t continue when Johnson and Kingston Flemings, who was serving a one-game suspension, return to the rotation.

  Franz Wagner had 24 points (10-of-18 FGs, 3-of-3 FTs), three rebounds, six assists, one steal and one three-pointer against the Wizards on Monday.

  Wagner recorded at least nine assists in three of his last four games entering play Monday. He still had six assists against the Wizards, which is nothing to sneeze at. Wagner will continue to see just about all the usage he can handle with Paolo Banchero sidelined.

  Porter shot 4-of-11 from three on Monday, but he was at his best during the third quarter. The Nets forward scored 13 of his 18 points in the period, and Brooklyn outscored New York 35-24. Unfortunately for fantasy managers and Nets fans, MPJ and the Nets went cold in the fourth, scoring just 11 points. The Nets return home on Wednesday to host the Hornets.

  Luguentz Dort started on Monday and finished with 14 points (5-of-10 FGs), two rebounds, one assist and four three-pointers against the Pacers.

  With Jalen Johnson (ankle) sidelined, Dort slid into the starting unit. He set new season highs for minutes, points and three-pointers and was a solid fill-in for Johnson. However, Dort has never been an elite option in fantasy basketball. He saw a boost in production as a starter, but that won’t continue when the team is healthy. Managers shouldn’t be looking to add Dort off the waiver wire outside of deep leagues.

Foxx, who is living in Melbourne while filming his latest film Deadlocked, has not shied away from the locals, with the actor embracing Melbourne’s restaurants and golf courses.

The Ray star has reportedly made several visits to the luxurious French restaurant Maison Bâtard, opting to sit on the restaurant’s terrace with other diners rather than in a private room, according to The Age.

According to local outlets, the Hollywood heavyweight has even paid for several unsuspecting diners’ bills. The diners reportedly only found out about his random act of kindness as they went to pay.

The singer and actor, who is filming in Docklands and Port Melbourne, has also been spotted teeing off at public golf courses in Melbourne.

Foxx’s presence in the bustling city has left racegoers buzzing with anticipation for Melbourne Cup day, with the hopes that the star will make an appearance at Flemington Race Course on Tuesday.

The Cup Carnival is no doubt the biggest event of the year for Australia’s socialites.

Hollywood stars have occasionally visited Flemington in the past, including Paris Hilton, Snoop Dog, Eva Longoria, Sarah Jessica Parker and Elizabeth Hurley.

Flemington has even attracted royalty. The late Princess Diana attended the Cup in 1985.

Australia’s very own Queen Mary attended the 2002 Melbourne Cup with now-King Frederik of Denmark, before their marriage.

There’s not been any confirmation that Foxx will attend, but given how open and public he has been since arriving in Melbourne, no one would be too surprised if he showed up.

“I have gone to some of the best restaurants. I don’t think that I can say all the names, ’cause I’m trying to lay low.”

Foxx fronted the cameras in Melbourne in mid-September gushing about the warm welcome he’s received and the good food he’s already enjoyed. 9News

Deadlocked, which also stars Luke Hemsworth, will tell the story of an ex-marine on jury duty who is forced into action after the high-profile court case becomes the scene of a standoff.

“Without giving anything away the courthouse comes under siege [and] I have to exert myself, you know what I’m saying, to save the day,” Foxx said of the plot.

In the wake of fanfiction repository Archive of Our Own (AO3) announcing a weeks-long security incident outage, readers and writers are reflecting on why the site is important to the fanfiction community, and how they’re coping with the downtime.  

On Thursday, the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW), the non-profit organization that runs AO3, posted that the site was down for maintenance, eventually updating to say the site restoration will take around two weeks, but could take up to a month. OTW confirmed in an updated status report Friday morning that this outage is due to a security incident. 

Some have speculated that the outage is a result of the PHP scramble this week that led to several sites going down to update their security, but AO3 doesn’t use PHP. An OTW representative told CNET: “I can let you know that this is not related to the PHP security issue as the Archive uses Ruby on Rails.” 

A lot of people are grieving the loss of Kinktober, AO3’s annual group writing exercise where writers upload a chapter or fic every day throughout October based on a prompt of the day. (The prompts are horny, if that’s not clear.) Several of the writers and readers who reached out to me following the outage brought up the poor timing around Kinktober.

One writer I spoke to who posts her writing and reads others’ writing on AO3, told me that she was in the middle of racing to finish a work that was deliberately timed to Kinktober and Halloween when the outage happened. She was hitting “next chapter” while reading a fic on Wednesday night when she got the message that the site was down for maintenance, “which I initially took as a sign from the universe to go to bed,” she said.

“The outage hasn’t derailed my desire to write. If anything, I want to have more chapters ready to go so my readers can eat good once it’s over,” she said. 

Some writers are considering posting elsewhere while they wait for AO3 to return, but it’s not an ideal workaround. AO3 author who goes by Selkie Myth told me they’re moving to Space Battles, another fanfiction site, during the outage. “I'm shrugging and just posting on SB [Space Battles] while the site's down. Hopefully I'll remember to post the chapters over on AO3 once it's back up — the story is projected to end during the outage. I anticipate the same is true for a lot of other authors,” they said.

Some people have said they’ll try fanfiction.net in the meantime, but it’s a much more bare-bones website. Fanfiction site Sufficient Velocity added a banner to its homepage welcoming AO3 refugees: “We’ve had a big influx of guests due to the AO3 outage. If you've been affected by the outage we're sorry to hear that and hope that they're able to get that fixed soon.” Wattpad, which many fanfiction writers and readers really, really hate for reasons I won’t get into here, posted on X: “we're here to support you during this difficult time.” Overwhelmingly, the replies are from people telling Wattpad to go away.

Another AO3 writer who goes by Ren told me she has two long works in progress right now with nowhere to post them. Posting elsewhere poses continuity and discovery problems, as some of these fanfiction works span chapters and hundreds of thousands of words of character and worldbuilding. “I could technically keep posting updates on sites like tumblr through the downtime, but both of these fics are quite long and I haven't been posting them anywhere other than AO3 — if I drop a new chapter for my 130k Pokemon Black and White fanfic on Tumblr completely out of context, people just now finding my work aren't going to be able to read the rest for a while :(“ she told me in an email. “I have seen other authors posting their gdocs and Ellipsus reader links in the meantime, but my draft files aren't exactly presentable... I will keep marinating but what will probably happen is my wips [works in progress] will just be on hiatus for a bit. My readers are used to hiatuses at least.” 

Another writer said she’s not considering posting elsewhere. “Wattpad can piss off,” she said. “But I may go back to fanfiction.net to save and physically print some of my favorite fics from way back in the day (the ancient/sacred texts, if you will) to ensure I have copies of those somewhere. This outage is a good reminder that things can vanish in the blink of an eye, whether a website crashes or is hacked or an author decides to suddenly delete their fic. If you love something, smash the kudos button, comment on it, bookmark it, subscribe, and consider downloading it. You never know.” 

A reader who emailed me following the outage said they’ve been enjoying getting into AO3 as a new fan. “I was a big fanfic skeptic, but that’s changed lately. I’ve found some truly excellent writers, and real creativity. The free nature of it in this increasingly horrifying stage of capitalism is refreshing,” they said.

AO3 has said in status updates and to journalists that they don’t expect any data loss. Losing works would be devastating for writers and readers, but AO3 is more than just a repository for writing; it’s a community of people commenting and reacting to those stories. Selkie mentioned the rigorous tagging habits of AO3 members, where stories are tagged with sometimes dozens of fanfiction tropes, character names, content hints and warnings, and can constitute a language specific to the platform and its readers; “Crack Treated Seriously,” for example, means writing a silly premise with a straight face, while “Idiots in Love” is self explanatory. 

“To me, the more devastating thing would be to lose the comments and kudos on my fic. Technically I have them saved elsewhere because I get AO3 email alerts, but seeing them threaded in one place at the end of a chapter hits different,” a writer said. “Comments can turn an author’s entire day around and restore their will to live. I often reread them if I have writer’s block or a bad bout of imposter syndrome. They also turn the otherwise solitary act of writing into something communal. Seeing someone experience your story chapter by chapter is incredibly motivating and makes the writing process feel less isolating.” 

OTW is entirely volunteer-run, and people on social media and in speaking to them directly have said they hope AO3 users go easy on staff during this time. “So many people rely on AO3 as an outlet for creativity and escapism as the real world burns, myself included. It’s also important to remember that the site is run by volunteers,” that writer said. “The work they do to protect writers, fight censorship and safeguard freedom of expression is extremely important and necessary, especially right now. They deserve all the respect and patience in the world as they work to get the archive back up and running. Be kind.” 

Ren, echoing those sentiments, sent me a meme: 

“An additional sentiment I've seen is ‘ok so when AO3 comes back we're all going to tell our favorite authors how much we missed their work, right?’ which I hope catches on — I'm writing for niche fandoms and had to disable guest comments due to bot spam, so comments are few and far between as it is,” Ren said. “I do kind of hope that the extended outage serves as a sort of wake-up call to anyone who's been taking ao3 for granted lately. It certainly was for me.” 

The Canberra Raiders have gone Black to the Future following record jersey sales.

But when you see the Raiders' 2027 home, away and alternate strips it's the away jersey that jumps out.

A closer look will reveal the contours of Canberra as part of a design that was partially inspired by Las Vegas.

Their season opener in Sin City launched a stunning minor premiership campaign and their "colour-rush" jersey was hugely popular.

The Raiders will hope Las Vegas continues to "come up black" for them with their away jersey.

They've enjoyed record sales over the past two-season cycle, with their home jersey almost as popular as their bestselling Marvel Hulk jersey of 2014.

More than 11,000 Hulk jerseys were sold, while the home jersey sold more than 10,000 - although the latter was on sale for two years as opposed to one.

"The thing that led us to ... that [dark green] was the positive commentary we got from our fanbase when we wore that jersey in Las Vegas," Raiders chief operating officer Jason Mathie told The Canberra Times.

"This is a deeper green than that, but people loved the slick look of what was the Raiders' Las Vegas jersey at the start of 2025.

"The jersey program in 2025-26 has been record-breaking.

"There was a number of things that led to that - they were new designs, but the Las Vegas jersey was a phenomenon.

"It was so well-received and we basically reordered."

The alternate strip is predominantly white, with the traditional Raiders green and ACT stripes.

"We're the Green Machine so we will never stray from our core brand colour, which is that envy green," Mathie said.

"The Raiders home jersey will always be predominantly green, that depicts our heritage with the representation of the ACT stripes.

"Unless it's a special event round like Anzac Round or Indigenous Round, we will always wear our green jersey at home."

My Raptors vs. Clippers prediction is that the visitors from up north will prolong Los Angeles' suffering and extend its losing streak to six games, winning straight up and covering the spread in the process. 

On a night when all 30 teams across the Association are taking the hardwood, the Clippers find themselves listed as 5.5-point underdogs for a 10 p.m. ET tipoff at the Intuit Dome. 

Let's dive into my analysis and NBA picks for Monday, Nov. 2.

A 124-112 loss to the Stephen Curry-less Golden State Warriors on Sunday was the latest setback in a series of unfortunate events for the Los Angeles Clippers. To add insult to injury, Derrick Jones Jr. hurt his knee with mere seconds to go in the third quarter, which may keep him sidelined for tonight's festivities. 

Los Angeles' offense is lacking options, and it ranks 26th in points per 100 possessions at 105.6. The defense hasn't fared much better, ranking 29th in opponents' field-goal percentage (49.4%) and 26th in opponents' 3-point percentage (38.3%).

The Toronto Raptors are just 2-8 straight up in their last 10 road games against the Clippers since 2016, but this may be the most vulnerable version of their opponent during that span. Even without Kawhi Leonard (knee), Toronto's offense still ranks third over the last three games, scoring 122.3 points per 100 possessions. Los Angeles simply doesn't boast the firepower or personnel to keep up as constructed.

Raptors vs Clippers combo

While the Los Angeles Lakers carried a double-digit lead for most of Sunday's eventual 131-125 win over the Raptors, Toronto showed some fortitude late while erasing a 15-point deficit and forcing head coach JJ Redick to reinsert his starters during garbage time. That may have lit a fire under the Raptors for a more inspired all-around performance tonight.

An Over has been registered just a single time in the last nine occasions these teams have competed against each other in Los Angeles (1-7-1).  

Five assists seem to be the magic number for Scottie Barnes in 2026-27, as he has yet to exceed that mark through six appearances. Sunday was the fourth time the All-Star forward finished with exactly five dimes.

Raptors player prop: Ja'Kobe Walter Over 2.5 3-pointers

Toronto is incredibly weak shooting the rock from behind the arc, ranking 25th in makes (11.7) and 24th in efficiency (32%). That makes Ja'Kobe Walter's contributions in that department all the more valuable.

The 22-year-old shooting guard is 26th in both triples per game (2.8) and total threes (17), all while converting a career-high 41.5%. 

He's gone four straight contests with at least three 3-pointers, making him the perfect threat to abuse a Clippers defense that's proven incapable of slowing down hot shooting. 

Clippers player prop: Rui Hachimura Over 5.5 rebounds

Play up to 50%. 

Rui Hachimura's rebounding numbers aren't setting the world ablaze. The eight-year pro is grabbing six rebounds per contest on 11 rebounding chances, although both outputs are significantly higher than what he contributed to the Lakers in 2025-26 (3.4 boards on 5.8 chances).

This prop is more so trying to bank on the upside of a 6-foot-8 big bringing down at least six rebounds against a Raptors team that allowed Walker Kessler and Luka Doncic to each finish with exactly 15 last night. 

If Jones Jr. sits, then his 4.6 rebounds per outing need to be accounted for tonight, raising the ceiling of this prop even more.

While he did most of his damage in two categories, points and three-pointers, Thomas may have done enough to stick in the rotation.

  Following a red-hot summer league stint, Thomas has been able to find more success in the preseason. He only played 13 minutes in this game, but he was able to pour in the points in this one. He shouldn’t be on redraft radars, though he may have some solid games if James Harden misses time at any point this season.

The 34th overall pick scored 21 points in the first half, shooting 5-of-6 from beyond the arc, and finished with 35. While the summer league competition is not on par with what Thomas will see in the fall/winter, he’s clearly playing with a chip on his shoulder after falling out of the first round of the draft. Regardless of what happens with Cleveland’s pursuit of LeBron James, Thomas scores too well to be out of Kenny Atkinson’s rotation.

  Thomas dropped 20 points against the Pacers in his first Summer League action on Friday and followed it up with a 30-point performance against the Pistons. The 34th overall pick in the draft, Thomas continues to display excellent scoring ability. He’s joined in the starting lineup by Ayo Dosunmu, Jaden McDaniels, Jonathan Kuminga and Rudy Gobert. Gobert’s return pushes Joan Beringer to the bench.

Smithtown East dropped the first three points in the final set of the county championship but showed no panic. The reigning Class AA champions instead responded with a run to propel themselves to a title.

Top-seeded Smithtown East scored 10 straight points in the final set as it defeated No. 2 Half Hollow Hills West, 25-23, 20-25, 20-25, 25-19, 15-8, in the girls volleyball Suffolk Class AA final at Suffolk Community College on Monday night.

Autumn Fichtelberg had a kill and two aces to give Hills West the first three points of the fifth set. Skyla Sullivan’s kill ended the run and her ace gave Smithtown East a 4-3 lead. Four different players had a kill during Smithtown East’s 10-0 run, including two from Brianna Cerullo.

“When you’re down, it’s all about finding the momentum,” Cerullo said. “You have to outwork the other team and want it more than they do. We just played for each other.”

Cerullo had back-to-back kills in the set to give the Bulls match point and an error by Hills West ended it. The senior finished with a team-high 17 kills.

Smithtown East (17-0) will play the Nassau champion in the Long Island Class AA championship on Nov. 11 at Nassau Community College. Smithtown East was defeated by Garden City in last year’s Long Island Class AA championship.

“We’re going to do whatever it takes to keep going,” Cerullo said. “Keep working harder than everyone and continue to progress.”

Cerullo’s run at the service line late in the fourth set allowed the Bulls to force the deciding fifth. The senior had three aces during a 6-0 run, giving Smithtown East a 24-17 lead.

“She really turned that game around," middle hitter Samantha Keil said. “She played great and got us back in it. We were able to take things from there.”

Smithtown East took the first set, scoring the final three points, with two coming on Cerullo’s kills.

“Brianna Cerullo is our rock, our leader. She’s our only team captain." Smithtown East coach George Alamia said. “She always steps up and anchors us. When the waters get rough, she steadies the ship. “

Hills West jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the second after Ella Corso’s kill. Her seventh kill of the set ended it. The Colts took the third set, scoring the final three points on Emily Dantona’s kill and back-to-back kills from Gabby Williams.

Hills West (16-4) will receive an at-large bid into the state tournament and face the Section IV champion at a date to be determined. The Colts won county championships the previous two seasons and a state championship in 2024.
