At least six people are dead and more are presumed missing after a middle-of-the-night fire ripped through a Brooklyn apartment building, FDNY officials said Thursday morning.

The first 911 calls were made shortly after 1:30 a.m. for a fire in Sunset Park on 58th Street between 6th and 7th avenues. Responding firefighters found a two-story residential building engulfed in flames.

Video recorded of the fire captured giant flames flowing out of second story windows and the loud pop of glass breaking. Neighbors were held back for the threat of black smoke and possible extension of the fire to buildings on either side.

More than 200 firefighters responded to the block. Roughly an hour after the first call, firefighters were able to extinguish the deadly inferno. Additional video captured firefighters performing CPR on a victim laying on a stretcher outside.

The FDNY said hazmat officials were called to the home for the presence of a lithium-ion battery. The battery has not yet been identified as the cause of the fire.

The city's medical examiner has been at the house all morning.
