ATP Paris Day 2 Predictions
Andrey Rublev vs Tomas Martin Etcheverry
Head-to-head: Rublev 1-1 Etcheverry
It has been quite an inconsistent season for Tomas Martin Etcheverry, who enters Paris on a six-match losing streak. Up against him is Andrey Rublev, a player who has also steadily fallen down the rankings but still has the weapons to make him dangerous on any given day. Etcheverry has lacked confidence in recent matches, making uncharacteristic errors. While Rublev is no longer the Top 10 player he was for many years, he should still have enough behind his forehand to win here.
Prediction: Rublev in 2
Taylor Fritz vs Benjamin Bonzi
Head-to-head: Fritz 1-0 Bonzi
Despite an inconsistent season that has seen him drop to the top 100, Benjamin Bonzi’s big serve and baseline game can still bring success on faster surfaces. Unfortunately for him, Taylor Fritz has both weapons, but with a much higher ceiling. The American enters Paris knowing that he is unlikely to make the final eight in Turin this year. Still, given his aggressive baseline game, he should be able to put together a positive result at ATP Paris.
Prediction: Fritz in 2
Stefanos Tsitsipas vs Learner Tien
Head-to-head: Tsitsipas 1-0 Tien
Earlier this year, Stefanos Tsitsipas dropping out of the top 100 felt like a real possibility, given how much he had regressed. However, the Greek recovered somewhat and returned to the top 50. To start his tournament at ATP Paris, he will face Learner Tien, a player who continues to improve behind his baseline game. Tsitsipas undoubtedly has the bigger weapons in this matchup, along with a serve that is quite effective on fast indoor courts. However, Tien is the more consistent player and should use his left-handed forehand to target Tsitsipas’s backhand regularly. If the American stays composed and sticks to his game plan, he should win this match.
Prediction: Tien in 3
