Clarence Seedorf will be on the Corinthians bench for the clássico with São Paulo at 21:30 on Wednesday at Vila Belmiro, in the 34th round of the Brasileirão, after the CBF allowed him to keep working while Conmebol reviews his coaching licence appeal.
ge.globo reports that the CBF said he remains eligible under the provisional licence used for his BID registration, until any new Conmebol ruling.
To address the issue, Corinthians sent the CBF documents from the Dutch FA, seeking recognition of Seedorf’s UEFA Pro, the highest European coaching qualification, in South America.
Conmebol initially refused homologation, judging he had not met the 36-month minimum as a head coach. Seedorf totals 26 months across three clubs and the Cameroon national team.
Other activities have also been cited, including three years on the KNVB supervisory board and work as an instructor on UEFA coaching courses.
The file will go to UEFA for validation, then UEFA will submit its assessment to Conmebol for a final decision. The issue is expected to be resolved during the next FIFA window.
Seedorf continues preparations for the Majestoso without changes to his routine.
Corinthians beat Mirassol 2-0 at the Neo Química Arena in the previous round, ending a run of 10 league matches without a win.
They sit 17th on 36 points, still in the relegation zone, and seek three points against São Paulo to aid their fight against the drop to Série B.
