England A player ratings as Mark Mapletoft’s side cruise to a convincing victory against Argentina XV at The Rec.

After a shaky opening quarter, the hosts showed their quality and came out with a 35-point victory over the Pumas XV.

England made a flying start, with Noah Caluori crossing inside two minutes.

Argentina responded through a tries from, Rodrigo Fernandez Criado and Pedro Delagado to bring the visitors 14-7 up, capitalising on a Josh van der Flier yellow card.

Max Ojomoh brought the score level in the 18th minute, before Atkinson and Caluori added further tries to put England 28-14 ahead.

Santiago Pernas closed the gap slightly just before the half-time whistle, exploiting England’s handling errors in wet conditions to make it 28-19 after 40 minutes.

Mapletoft's side extended their lead after the break as Jack Kenningham and Jamie Blamire scored tries to make it 38-19.

Argentina responded with a converted try, but the hosts quickly regained control through Luke Northmore in the 55th minute, finishing a superb break involving Fitz Harding and Caolan Englefield.

Slick passing then allowed Tobias Elliott to add another converted try, taking England further ahead, as their attacking dominance continued.

Luke Northmore then crossed under the posts after a slick team move, before Tobias Elliott finished off some flowing backline play to take England beyond the 50-point mark.

A second from Northmore four minutes from time capped off a strong performance.
