FA Vase draw: Brettsiders handed home advantage in third round

Hadleigh United have been drawn at home in the third round of the FA Vase.

The Brettsiders, who are the only remaining Suffolk side left in the competition, booked their place in this afternoon’s draw thanks to Saturday’s 3-2 win on the road at fellow Thurlow Nunn League First Division outfit Halesworth Town.

And Hadleigh’s reward for that victory is a clash against Heybridge Swifts, who are set to visit Millfield on November 28.

This season is Heybridge’s first in the Vase since 1989/90, with the Essex club having been relegated from the Isthmian League North Division last term.

On Saturday, Swifts, who are unbeaten so far this season in the Essex Senior League Premier Division, ran out 3-0 winners over Everett Rovers in the second round of the competition.

Meanwhile, against Halesworth, Hadleigh found themselves 2-0 down with just 20 minutes of the tie remaining.

However, Rocco Leeks gave the visitors some hope when he converted from the penalty spot before Keiran Driver struck twice in stoppage time to complete a dramatic turnaround.

Hadleigh last played in the third round of the Vase back in the 2013/14 season when they ran out 3-2 winners over Welwyn Garden City.
