Jets placed Garrett Wilson in the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Wilson sustained a head injury in Week 8 against the Raiders and now appears to be a long shot for Week 9. Wilson this season has accounted for 27 percent of the Jets’ targets and 38 percent of the team’s air yards. His absence would make both Adonai Mitchell and Omar Cooper flex-viable for Week 9, along with Mason Taylor. Cooper is coming off a game in which he saw no targets while running a route on 75 percent of the Jets’ drop backs.

Fresh off a three-target fiasco that prompted trade request denials from the Jets’ No. 1 wideout, Wilson was jammed the ball early and often. It was a clear, intentional commitment from Geno Smith and the Jets’ coaching staff. It still couldn’t prevent Wilson from once again getting out-shined by one of his positional mates, this time Adonai Mitchell. AD contributed an explosive 7/142/1 on nine looks. That’s now three 100-yard performances by Jets wideouts over the past three weeks with zero of them coming from Wilson. He still commands the most defensive attention, making life easier for Mitchell and rookie Omar Cooper Jr. Despite those frustrations and Wilson’s relative struggles, he will remain a must start for Week 9 against the Chiefs.

Coming off back-to-back 100-yard efforts since rejoining the Jets’ lineup in Week 6, it was Cooper’s turn to take a zero after Adonai Mitchell had that unfortunate distinction in Week 7. Today it was Mitchell blowing up for a 100-yard day, going 7/142/1 on nine looks. This, as Garrett Wilson still commanded a team-leading 12 targets. Wilson’s unmovable presence combined with Mitchell’s target competition means Cooper is going to be a volatile WR3 going forward, but “volatile” does at least denote upside. He might not be particularly likely to tap into it for Week 9 against the Chiefs. Especially with only two teams on bye next weekend, Cooper is probably best treated as a WR4 rather than WR3.

Wilson told reporters this week that he hasn’t requested a trade. Now Schefter reports, citing a “well-placed” source, that there’s “no way” the Jets will trade the 26-year-old wide receiver before the trade deadline. Wilson was held to two catches and 26 yards in Week 7, but remains in the WR2 mix heading into Week 8’s matchup against the Raiders.

Wilson said he loves it in New York. He then immediately added, “Do I love it more than I love winning? Nah, to be completely honest, but I’m hopeful.” It’s hard to blame Wilson. The Jets are 24-51 since drafting Wilson and he has routinely caught passes from some of the league’s worst quarterbacks. The offense has been better under Geno Smith this year, but the team is still struggling to win games. Wilson could likely force his way out of New York if he wanted to, but it sounds like he’s content to go down with the ship again this year.

The Dolphins shut down Wilson, opting to let Omar Cooper Jr. and Mason Taylor beat them through the air. The duo combined for 177 yards and three touchdowns while Wilson was stuck with decoy duties. Wilson was spotted screaming at Geno Smith in the fourth quarter after Smith took a back-breaking sack on third down at the goal line. Wilson downplayed the altercation after the game, saying he was “collaborating” and then noting that he wasn’t even talking to Geno. He was. With several young players taking on larger roles in the Jets’ offense, Wilson’s role as the team’s unquestioned WR1 on the team has taken a hit. Still, he should at least stay in the fantasy WR2 mix for his Week 8 date with the Raiders.

Cooper was an electric deep threat once again, bringing down catches for 60 and 52 yards, neither of which was his touchdown. He scored shortly after the 52-yard grab by lining up as a running back and cruising past his defender for an easy three-yard touchdown reception. Cooper Jr. is the first rookie in franchise history with back-to-back games with 100+ receiving yards and a touchdown. While we can’t say he has overtaken Garrett Wilson already, this is looking like, at worst, a co-WR1 situation. Cooper will flirt with a WR2 ranking when he takes on the Raiders next week.

Mitchell has been sidelined since injuring his finger in preparation for the Jets’ Week 3 game against the Lions. It was incredibly unfortunate time for Mitchell and his fantasy managers, as his injury came just days after he went for 6-63-0 on 12 targets against the Packers. Mitchell’s return could complicate things for Omar Cooper’s fantasy managers after Cooper broke out for 6-103-1 against the Patriots last week. The Jets rank 13th in the league in plays run from 11-personnel (209) through the first six weeks of the season, which means both Mitchell and Cooper should see plenty of snaps. That said, neither player should be viewed as anything more than a WR3/FLEX play until we see how the target distribution looks with both players active.

Wilson’s second quietest effort of the season came as he dealt with Christian Gonzalez’s stingy coverage and first-round rookie teammate Omar Cooper Jr. returning from his ankle injury. With Adonai Mitchell (finger) likely — hopefully — soon returning from his marathon absence, Wilson is set to have a lot more target competition in the Jets’ receiver corps, but those extra bodies should also create more space for the Jets’ No. 1. Wilson remains a high-end WR2 heading into next week’s plus matchup with the Dolphins.

  • NYJ Wide Receiver #11

Active for the first time since Week 1, the No. 30 overall pick shook off his ankle issue by recording the first 100-yard outing of his now two-game career. It was a much needed effort with No. 1 Garrett Wilson getting tangled up in Christian Gonzalez’s coverage. The highlight was a 48-yard touchdown where Cooper got behind the entire defense then came back to an underthrown deep ball for six. This was after he had a shorter touchdown called back by a dubious Tim Patrick OPI penalty. Now firmly in the mix for No. 2 status even when Adonai Mitchell comes back from his seemingly never-ending finger injury, Cooper is worth rostering in a majority of fantasy leagues with injuries mounting and bye weeks raging. The Jets have a plus Week 7 matchup in the Dolphins.

  • NYJ Wide Receiver #11

Up for the first time since Week 1, Cooper should immediately slide in as the Jets’ No. 2 wideout with Adonai Mitchell (finger) still somehow on the shelf. He’s a dart throw WR4 for a contest where the Jets should be playing from behind. Joining Mitchell on the shelf for Gang Green are RB Breece Hall, CB Nahshon Wright, LG Dylan Parham, DT Jack Heflin and EDGE Joseph Ossai.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said Breece Hall (quad) is “trending in the right direction.”

Hall, barring setbacks in practice, should be OK for Week 9 against the Chiefs. What his workload will look like is another question entirely. Braelon Allen has established himself as an efficient, tough runner over the past few weeks, and could remain the Jets’ lead rusher while Hall takes on most pass-catching opportunities. Though Hall should have some kind of floor in Week 9, he probably doesn’t have much of a ceiling unless the Jets decided to phase out Allen.

Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot said the “vibe” is that Shedeur Sanders will start in Week 9 against the Saints.

Cabot said it would be a challenge for Deshaun Watson to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol by Saturday and suit up for Sunday’s game. Watson suffered a head injury in Week 8 against the Steelers and reported concussion symptoms on Tuesday, according to the Browns. Sanders in 2025 was the most inaccurate quarterback in the league and struggled to support fantasy-relevant pass catchers. Harold Fannin could see a boost with Sanders under center after Sanders targeted the tight end relentlessly during his 2025 starts.

Colts head coach Shane Steichen said Jonathan Taylor remains on the Colts roster.

Steichen mostly dodged questions about why the Colts would play Taylor in Week 9 if the team was in talks with contenders who might want to acquire the star running back before the NFL’s trade deadline. “Teams call all the time,” Steichen told reports. He said the team was focused on the Cowboys, their opponents in Week 9. Taylor seems more than likely to be dealt to another team in the coming weeks. That could be the Vikings, Bengals, Seahawks, or another contending team in need of backfield help.

Tyler Huntley (toe) is out for the remainder of the season.

Further evaluation of Huntley’s toe injury showed it was a season ender. That leaves the Ravens desperate at quarterback for the remainder of the season. Against the Jaguars on Thursday night the team is likely to start Joe Fagnano. It’s unclear who will serve as the team’s backup quarterback this week or going forward. Zay Flowers goes from an elite weekly fantasy option to something closer to a WR3 in this degraded offensive environment. Derrick Henry’s prospects take a major knock too.

Browns placed Deshaun Watson in the NFL’ s concussion protocol.

Watson took a hit to the head in the first half of the Browns’ Week 8 loss to the Steelers. He was evaluated for a brain injury and re-entered the game. He then reported concussion-like symptoms on Tuesday and entered the protocol on Wednesday. It would be somewhat surprising if Watson is able to clear the protocol in time for the Browns’ Week 9 matchup against the Saints. That would likely mean Shedeur Sanders would get the starting nod against New Orleans. Sanders should only be rostered in superflex formats for now.

Brandon Aiyuk submitted paperwork to the NFL for his reinstatement.

Aiyuk’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed the development on Wednesday, and said Aiyuk would report to the 49ers on Friday. That could expedite his release from the team so he could seek employment with another, presumably wideout-needy NFL team. Aiyuk’s erratic behavior over the past year and questions about his conditioning could prevent some teams from pursuing him. “Brandon is healthy and ready to get back on the field,” Rosenhaus said. He had been closely linked to the Commanders before a series of online meltdowns in the offseason. The Rams could be in the market for Aiyuk with Davante Adams (hamstring) sidelined indefinitely. Aiyuk is still unlikely to have any fantasy value this season.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Mack Hollins (calf) will return to practice Wednesday.

Hollins has been on injured reserve for a month with a calf injury. With a full practice today he’ll have a good chance of suiting up in Week 9 against the Packers. Hollins will likely function as Drake Maye’s primary downfield option if A.J. Brown remains sidelined. Hollins’ return dings the fantasy prospects of DeMario Douglas, who has an 18 percent target share and a 19 percent air yards share over the team’s past three games. Hollins will be flex viable in deeper formats.

Bennett was acquired by the Eagles in a swap with the Raiders before the start of last season. The 26-year-old played 98 defensive snaps in two seasons for Philly, spending all of the 2026 season on injured reserve with a knee injury. The Eagles now waive Bennett from injured reserve.

The Denver Gazette’s Chris Tomasson said “indications point to Broncos WR Pat Bryant returning to practice this week.”

Bryant has missed the Broncos’ last four games after being placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury. The 23-year-old receiver is eligible to return whenever the Broncos deem him ready to do so, and his practicing this week would mean the team has opened his 21-day return window. Bryant has caught nine passes for 133 yards and one touchdown and was third among Broncos receivers in routes run (91) through the first four weeks of the season. He could make for an interesting stash in deeper leagues, but fantasy managers shouldn’t rush to put him in their lineups whenever he does return.
