LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- The ABC7 family is mourning the loss of longtime news anchor and reporter Harold Greene, who has died. He was 82.

Greene began his career as a producer and reporter in 1970. His journalism career later took him to San Diego and San Francisco before he returned to ABC7 for multiple stints.

His final return to the station came in 1982. During that time, he anchored several newscasts, including the 4 p.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. broadcasts, until 2000.

His work over the years earned him multiple Golden Mike, Emmy, and Edward R. Murrow awards.

Greene's impact was felt by colleagues throughout the newsroom.

In a message posted to social media, Greene's family wrote, "We have a feeling he's already settling into the great newsroom in the sky, no doubt with a few suggestions on how things should be run."
