It’s a battle of heavyweight contenders in the NFC to bring an end to a wild Week 8 in the NFL. The Chicago Bears visit the defending champion Seattle Seahawks from Lumen Field on Monday Night Football.
Anthrax on the mic
Ben Johnson’s Bears have emerged as the new contenders in the NFC after a debut season in which they sent alarm signals around the conference that was dominated by the Seahawks last season. Seattle is working on their title defense campaign, but have found it difficult to perform on a weekly basis when they constantly have the bulls eye on their back.
Tonight the Seahawks are back home after a crucial primetime win over the Kansas City Chiefs last week. They welcome the up and comers in the conference tonight, and as always Lumen Field will be rocking before, during and after the game if all goes to plan.
Tonight the Seahawks will have Joey Belladonna singing the national anthem before kickoff of this Week 8 Monday night match up. Belladonna is the lead singer of the thrash metal band Anthrax. He has been nominated for six Grammy Awards and performed with legendary bands like Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath and KISS among others.
Offense vs. Defense to end Week 8
The Seahawks come into tonight riding high after their 20-3 win over the Kansas City Chiefs last week. Their title defense season has been difficult, but they do enter this prime time game over .500 and well in the race for the NFC West and a Wild Card spot.
The Bears have been one of the stand out teams of the season. Despite seeing their franchise quarterback go down with a scary looking injury in Week 2, they are 5-2 and have Caleb Williams back under center as of two weeks ago. Since his return Williams has thrown for 300 yards in both games, and the Bears beat the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots as Williams fueled the air attack after his return from a hamstring strain.
Tonight it will be Ben Johnson and Williams high powered offense against the defensive juggernauts of Mike MacDonald. Both teams figure to be in the playoffs later this season, and tonight’s game could be a preview of a potential postseason game in the months to come. Kickoff from Lumen Field is set for 8:15 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on ESPN.
