Ally McCoist was left stunned that Fenerbahce were not awarded a penalty for a foul on Mason Greenwood. After 20 minutes of Liverpool's Champions League clash against the Turkish giants, Greenwood was played through on goal, but a firm shove from Kostas Tsimikas knocked him off balance and prevented him from shooting.
Claims for a penalty from Greenwood and the home support were waved away with VAR also failing to review the incident. Upon watching replays of the potential foul, McCoist was adamant that a penalty should have been given.
He said on TNT Sports: "It's a penalty, it's two hands, not even one hand. That prevents him for me getting a shot on goal. Both hands. I think it's a penalty, I really do. It's a shame because it's a great ball and an exquisite touch.
"I think so (got away with one), I really think so. He pushes him both hands when he's in the process of having an attempt on goal just because it doesn't look like it, doesn't make it not a penalty."
Liverpool went straight up the other end, and Trey Nyoni put them in front with a deflected effort which further angered Fenerbahce. However, Greenwood equalised moments later with his free-kick wrong-footing Alisson after a touch from a Liverpool player.
The set-piece from Greenwood appeared to be going wide but a stray touch from Jeremy Jacquet changed the trajectory of the ball ,which left Alisson fuming.
Analysing the goal, McCoist added: "He [Greenwood] gets a break doesn't he? I think the goalkeeper will not be too happy with his wall.
"Does somebody turn their back on it? It's the perfect answer. It's Jacquet and he's livid, does he turn his back? He certainly does, you've got to face it. The goalkeeper is livid, absolutely livid and with justification as well. He's (Jacquet) is side on for someone who has had a good start to the season."

Following Liverpool's opener, Fenerbahce dominated proceedings with Irfan Can Kahveci striking the bar before Greenwood's goal. The latter also went close with a left-footed effort from close range.
Greenwood arrived at Fenerbahce from Marseille this past summer in a €39million (£32.5m) deal. He had spent two years in France with a loan spell at Getafe coming before that.
The United academy product was free to join the La Liga club on a temporary basis after he was no longer in the plans of his boyhood club.
Greenwood was suspended by United when he was charged with attempted rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and controlling and coercive behaviour in 2022. He denied the charges, which were subsequently dropped, and later left the club permanently.
