FOX News contributor Trey Gowdy on Monday expressed his frustration with all the money being spent in the Texas Senate race that could have been used better elsewhere.
BRET BAIER: Trey, what are you watching?
FORMER REP. TREY GOWDY (R-SC), FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: A state near and dear to my heart. Texas, a state I love. I was laying in bed the other night wondering how do I blow 500 million dollars?
And it dawned on me, I pick Ken Paxton over John Cornyn who 99.3 is how often John Cornyn voted with Donald Trump. So for .7 if you get Paxton you spent half a billion dollars that could have gone to South Carolina, could have gone to Maine, could have gone to Nebraska, Kansas, but they're trying to drag Ken Paxton over the finish line when all you had to do was nominate John Cornyn.
So that's what I'm looking at.
BAIER: But that said do you think that Paxton will get across the finish line?
GOWDY: I don't know. I don't know. My friends in Texas some of them are not over -- you know, Cornyn was the lead vote getter when it was three of them and it looked like the president was going to endorse Cornyn. I don't know what happened. I've never asked the president. He might not tell me if I did ask.
But Cornyn was the lead vote getter when there were three of them. So it's Texas. Do I think Talarico is going to win? No. But it is unnecessarily difficult because they nominated Paxton.
